Looking at men, the proportion living alone rose steadily across all age groups. Men aged 65+ showed the highest figures, starting at 18% in 2005 and increasing to 22% by 2015. Similarly, men aged 35-64 saw their percentage grow from 12% to 14%, while the youngest group (18-34) experienced a rise from 8% to 11% during the same period.
For women, those aged 65+ had the largest percentages, beginning at 25% in 2005 and reaching 30% in 2015. Women aged 35-64 also showed an upward trend, from 10% to 13%. The lowest proportions for women were among those aged 18-34, which started at 6% and increased to 8% by the end of the period.
