The two pie charts illustrate the different sources of electricity generation in Norway and Ireland during 2018, both overall and specifically from renewable sources.

Overall, Norway generated almost all its electricity from renewable sources, primarily hydropower, while Ireland relied heavily on fossil fuels, especially natural gas and coal. Renewables played a much smaller, though still significant, role in Ireland's total electricity production.

In Norway, hydro accounted for an overwhelming 85% of all electricity generated. Wind power and other renewables contributed 6% and 3% respectively, bringing the total renewable share to 94%. From renewable sources alone, hydro represented 88%, with wind at 7% and other renewables at 5%. Non-renewable sources like coal and natural gas made up only a small fraction, at 2% and 4%.

Conversely, Ireland depended mostly on fossil fuels, with natural gas providing 50% and coal 25% of its total electricity. Hydro contributed 10%, wind 8%, and other renewables 7%. Looking only at renewable generation in Ireland, wind power was the largest source at 40%, followed by hydro at 36% and other renewables at 24%.
