The modern world sees a growing trend where people anticipate immediate fulfilment of their needs and desires, whether for products, services, or information, without enduring any waiting periods. This development is largely a negative one, primarily fuelled by rapid technological advancements.

One main reason for this expectation is the widespread availability of technology. The internet, coupled with smartphones, has made it possible to access almost anything at any time. For example, online shopping delivers goods quickly, and news applications provide updates instantly. This constant connectivity and immediate access have conditioned people to expect similar speed in all aspects of their lives, leading to a decreased tolerance for delays and a general sense of impatience.

From my perspective, this trend is predominantly negative. While there is undeniable convenience in getting things quickly, the downsides are more significant. Individuals may develop shorter attention spans and reduced capacity for deeper thought, as they are less accustomed to waiting for information or outcomes. Furthermore, this desire for instant satisfaction can lead to increased stress and dissatisfaction when expectations are not met, which is often the case in real-world scenarios that require time and effort. As a result, the benefits of speed are often outweighed by these psychological and social costs.

In conclusion, the modern expectation of instant gratification stems from technological progress. Despite offering some convenience, I believe this is a negative development because it fosters impatience and can diminish our ability to engage in more thoughtful processes.
