Overall, nuclear power was a significant source of electricity in France, accounting for the largest share, while Italy stood out for its high percentage from 'Other Renewables'. Coal and natural gas were also prominent, particularly in Germany and Spain respectively, whereas hydro power generally played a smaller role.
Looking at conventional fuels, coal was the leading source in Germany at 45%, but much less important in France (5%) and Italy (10%). Natural gas contributed significantly in Italy (50%) and Spain (35%), making it their primary fuel for electricity. In contrast, Germany used 25% natural gas, and France only 8%.
For other energy types, nuclear power generated 70% of France's electricity, far exceeding the 20% in Spain and 12% in Germany. Italy, however, used only 10% nuclear. Hydro power ranged from 5% in Italy to 20% in Spain. 'Other Renewables' showed a considerable share in Italy (25%), compared to 12% in Germany and 7-10% in France and Spain.
